“She’s ours. I’m to bring her by when I go to work after I’ve dropped the girls off at preschool. Your mom’s orders.”
He set the puppy down, and this time she got serious examining a shrub on the edge of the lawn before she squatted again.
“So what does dear old Burt think of this?”
“Hard to say, actually. He was in one of his moods tonight. Came home early from the office, and boy he was on tenterhooks. I’m worried about them, Jake.”
“Well, I’m sorry you had to see that. But I didn’t come over here to talk about my parents and watch the puppy pee. He walked up behind Ginger, wrapping his arms around her waist and biting her ear lobe. “I actually was hoping I could get you to talk a little dirty with me tonight. Remember how you used to do that?”
She began to giggle.
“Ah, come on, honey, just a little come fuck me. Just a couple of times. I’ll try to hold out as long as I can, but I’d like it if you begged.”
She turned around. “You haven’t changed a bit. So you came over here to fuck me?”
“Oh yes, most definitely.”
“Not talk about our future?”
He hesitated, but then she pressed her palm against his dick and his worries evaporated. “If we’re gonna talk, I prefer that we talk dirty. But we can talk about that other stuff, too.”
“Other stuff as in what?”
Jake had thought about it all afternoon after the briefing. He knew exactly what he wanted, and he hoped she did, too.
“I was wondering what it would take to get my ass permanently ensconced in your bed so you could fuck me all night long every night, not just when I needed it.”
She giggled again.
“As in, would I do your laundry for you if you serviced me?”
“Something like that,” he said, slipping a hand between her legs. “If you did it naked I’d watch you bend over, and then I’d put my tongue wherever you liked it.”
He could feel how wet she’d become. His finger moved lazily up and down her slit, and he felt her delicious shudder, her breath getting deeper.
“I think I could put up with that. It would be a sacrifice, though.”
“Oh, I’d make you pay all right. I’d expect to extract a huge price.”
He inserted his forefinger inside her opening. She grabbed his shoulders for balance. The puppy started to pull at her robe again.
“You have a kennel for this thing?” he whispered in her ear.
“He sleeps with the girls, but yes, there is one. But he’ll whine all night long.”
“That’s a no go,” he said as he inserted his second finger deep inside her, lifting her up with his other arm and letting her ride his thigh. “Only one I want to hear whimpering is you.”
Jake let go of her, dropped to his knees and buried his head in her crotch. The puppy started barking again. From upstairs, they heart one of the girls shout out, “Daddy, what are you doing to Mommy?”
Jake froze before he could get his second taste in. He stood up, holding the puppy. “Daddy was just getting Fiona, honey.”
He heard Ginger chuckle and follow him inside the house.
“That was most creative,” she whispered in the dark as they padded through the kitchen, through the living room and up the stairs.
“Better than scarring them for life,” he answered.
Inside the bedroom, Jake gave the dog to Jasmine. “Jennie, it’s Jasmine’s turn now. Daddy’s very tired, and if you want me here for breakfast in the morning, you’ve got to get right back to bed, okay?”
“Okay, Daddy,” came the answer in unison.
He closed the door behind them and grabbed Ginger’s hand. “Enough with the interruptions and surprises.” He dragged her down the hallway to the master.
The room smelled like Ginger, but she’d redone several things. Nothing was familiar except for her scent. By the light of the moon he peeled her robe off her shoulders and stared at her naked body while he disrobed.
She crossed her arms and he instructed her to stop it. “I want to see everything. Don’t cover up, Ginger.”
She remained standing with her hands flicking at her sides.
He dropped to his knees again. “I didn’t get to finish kissing you there, honey.” He pried open her knees and inserted his tongue in the warm folds of her sex, and then sucked her bud. Ginger pushed herself up on his shoulders, rising to tiptoes and gave him as much access as she could. He moved them over to the bed, and pushed her forward, bending her over the end of the mattress. His fingers found her wet and so ready for him he could not help but massage her with the tip of his cock. With long strokes he teased her up and down, until he snagged on her opening and thrust inside deep and hard, nearly taking her off her feet.
“Oh God, Jake!” she moaned.
“Yes baby? You like this?”
“I do.”
“Do what?”
“I like it when you fuck me like this.”
“If I fuck you harder will you talk dirtier to me?”
“Yes.”
“I want to hear it.”
He knew Ginger didn’t have much of a vocabulary for dirty words, but he found it such a turn-on that she’d even try.
“You make me hot.”
“You like being hot?”
“Yes. Jake make me come.”
“Oh, I intend to, sweetheart. Just be a little patient.”
“I don’t want to be patient.”
He picked her up and tossed her on the bed, spreading her legs and climbing on top of her. She was writhing beneath him, her lips seeking his, drawing his tongue deep inside her as she raised her knees, then wrapped them around his hips and moved against him as he stroked her deep. He picked up the pace, her little moans and love squeals driving him crazy. She clutched his ass, pulling him down on her, answering his thrusts with hip movements of her own as they joined frantically and finally crashed against each other in orgasm. Her muscles milked him, drained him of everything he had. All he could think of was to hope to God he could do it again right away. He never wanted to be left disconnected from her again.
Chapter 12
Burt Green started off the day in the same foul mood he went to bed with the night before. His wife had slept in their master, which was locked. He had to pound on the door in order to retrieve his clothes for work this morning.
She was still angry with him, and her face showed it. Though she had been a beautiful woman at one time, he could honestly say she’d become very ugly, both inside and out.
“Not going to do any good locking me out of my own bedroom, Adele. Next time you take the guest room. I slept with dog hair and stuffed animals,” he said tersely as he made his way past her.
“You’re a sonofabitch, Burt Green.”
“Well, you might as well not lock the fuckin’ door. Not like I’m going to come in and ask for a quickie.” He was sorting through underwear and socks, his shirt and slacks hung over his arm. “I’ll shower in the girls’ bath if I can stand all the rubber toys.”
Before he closed the door behind him, he saw a pillow come flying at him, but fall short. He had a brief thought about what would happen if Adele started throwing axes, like Jake’s last ex-wife. And what might happen if her arm or her aim improved. Then maybe he’d be the one to have to lock the door.
Fuckin’ women.
He scooped up the toys so he didn’t slip and fall, placing them in the sink and started his shower.
He knew he was an asshole. And he knew he, too, was getting ugly. But the business was wearing him down. Several of his friends had retired to a luxurious lifestyle. Burt could only go on vacations as the “buddy” and be in the same country club, getting his $100,000 fee waived, because of the referrals he gave. He was good at cold calling and giving names of wealthy clients. The best in club history, they said.
His personal life had been a lot more fun when he was younger and could slip off for a golf weekend with his buddies an
d then find some pussy on the side. He didn’t like professionals nor local girls. One was too impersonal, and he wasn’t a dumbass to think they really liked him. But he’d tried anyhow. Local girls were too complicated.
His wife wasn’t aware of one long affair he’d had, fathering a daughter who was sweet and dumb just like her mother. Burt had always cared for the woman, but couldn’t be married to her. She wouldn’t be able to tolerate the lifestyle, the other wives would chew her to bits, and he didn’t want her to know what he was really like. Only Adele had the mettle to put up with him and the fast crowd they ran with.
So now Belinda was twenty-two, and he’d hired her to be his receptionist at Green & Green. Her mother told him she didn’t realize she was his daughter, but some days, the way Belinda looked at him, he wondered. But Jill swore her lips had been sealed, which was the condition to be kept in order for her living expenses to be paid. He paid for Belinda’s two-year Executive Assistant AA degree as well, and the poor thing barely graduated. But she seemed happy, and her mother was thrilled.
He shaved and dressed in the children’s guest bathroom. They’d stocked it with packets of vanity items from the hotel stays they’d been at, so there was a full shave kit, shoe shine and mouthwash. He didn’t have to go back to the master suite for anything except a good yelling, and only if he thought that would improve his day.
Which of course it wouldn’t.
Fuckin’ women.
Why couldn’t Adele just accept what he was? She didn’t do anything all day long anyway but spend his money. She had no trust fund like some of his buddies married into. Was a whole lot easier when a few seven-figure savings accounts could be merged into the marriage. But in the beginning he wasn’t about that. He was going to be a self-made billionaire, and were it not for the fact that Gerud had picked a terrible shopping center to purchase in Hawaii on a beautiful golf course, he’d be living in clover, probably retired.
He should have checked before he bought the course from some aging Japanese icon of industry that needed money all of a sudden. He wondered why they sold it too cheap. Only after he wound up with the same liquidity issues, which at the time were only temporary, did he discover that if you defaulted on a commercial loan in the State of Hawaii they could make you pay every penny back, and if you didn’t, they could take everything you had. And you could go to jail for it, too. You’d be shit out of luck in the rain forest, stuck with a Japanese lawyer and a Chinese judge who never smiled. You had no chance as a Haole.
Fuckin’ sport of kings. He knew they made these laws to get even with the Haoles who came over, stole their women and transformed their island paradise into hotel chains, fast food chains, and tiki bars with umbrella drinks, where the girls wore fake grass skirts. Nothing like their proud heritage.
He tied his tie, applied some aftershave from the sample pack and went downstairs. He made a one cup coffee, grabbed his packet of vitamins he’d take at lunch, picked up his briefcase and left for the office in his leased Jag.
Something was going to have to change. He was getting too old for the pressure. Surrounded by a half-wit son with no backbone, an illegitimate daughter and old mistress who adored him, a wife who hated him—even his most proud accomplishment, Jake, was headed down Burt’s path, running through the girls and the booze and throwing his life away jumping out of airplanes trying very hard to get himself killed. Burt shook his head. Everyone was either leaving him, or being a financial burden to him. He was all alone and hating his life more and more every day.
There were going to be only so many cocktail parties at the club where he could smile. Very soon, his alcoholism was going to mess with his brain. He’d be throwing chairs and tossing women into the pools any day now. And he’d start with Adele, who used her body and model good looks to impress all the wives into thinking the two of them had a hot sex life. The woman was about as warm as road kill. But he didn’t mind being thought of as the stud of Coronado, and it helped him get dates on the weekends.
The infidelity and self-loathing was one thing. His one true regret was Jake. Jake had married the best woman on the planet, a solid gold lady who was brought up right, and even then had to throw it all away. Burt was going to offer him a position when he got off the SEALs, but now he didn’t want Jake anywhere near the company, his half-sister, or knowing about what a mess he was in financially. That would be like showing his dick to the crowd at the Club, how small it was due to all his alcohol abuse. It always took a girl twenty minutes to get him hard enough to even have barely any penetration.
Gotta get that Viagra refilled.
It was his birthright to screw. The only pastime that gave him a moment’s pleasure. Not even his beautiful grandkids brought him joy any longer. The carrot-headed girls were connected to Adele and were afraid of him. Monica’s baby was old enough to hold, but all she did was spit up all over him. And Monica expected he’d have some influence over his son, which he didn’t. Karlene’s boy looked just like Jake. Burt stayed away. Watching Jake bounce him around and play with him made him want another drink. He saw a fatherhood he could have had with his son—with either of his sons. But he was too busy making money to have a relationship with them at all.
He figured they were better off if he just stayed out of their lives.
Belinda’s fresh face was the first thing of the day that made him smile. She resembled her mother when she was young. Shapely figure, large chest, super small waist and perhaps a little larger than required ass. If he had had a daughter with Adele, the poor thing would be skinny with sunken cheekbones and a death stare.
“Good morning, Mr. Green,” she said with a wide wholesome smile.
“Good morning. You look lovely today, Belinda.”
“Thanks, Mr. Green. Um. You have someone waiting in your office.”
“Oh? They couldn’t wait out here?”
Belinda leaned forward, “One of your daughters-in-law, sir. Sorry. She had the baby.”
“Ah! I see.” Burt was slightly annoyed Monica had started to stalk him again.
“Any other messages I should know about? Gerud around?”
“Haven’t seen him. Only a handful in today. Caravan day, remember?”
“Yes, and I’ll be going out later. We have anything on tour?”
“No, sir,” she said frowning. The office had been losing listings, and there was a marked difference in the timbre of the agents who did come in. Word was beginning to get out, he thought, that his business was shrinking about as fast as his pecker.
Green knew that if he were a younger man, Monica would have been just his type. Feisty as the dickens, she could be inappropriate in all the right ways, and occasionally in some of the wrong ones, which always added variety and excitement. He could live with those.
He closed the door behind him as she got up and gave him a kiss on the cheek, which he returned at the same time. He was careful not to touch her in any fashion other than that. Just in case.
“So Jake went up to Las Vegas,” she said, bouncing the baby on her knee. Burt could see the baby had taken a sudden interest in him and bestowed him with a smile. Little Samantha was cute, but there was no way Burt wanted to get spit-up on all over him.
“I heard about that. Baby’s getting big.”
“So does Jake have any news? Because I understand Ginger went up there, too.”
“Monica, you know I’m not the one my son confides in. Least of all me. And just where did you get this information, anyway?”
“Gerud.”
“Oh, well, yes, Gerud took him up there. He doesn’t allow Jake to drive when they’re together.”
“He said it was to forget me. He was having a hard time forgetting me.”
Burt looked at her pretty dark auburn hair in curls framing her rounded face. It was sad someone so pretty was so needy when it came to his son. And he knew exactly what a turn-off it was. But then there was this Gerud thing that bothered him even more.
“I don’t thi
nk it’s Gerud’s place to tell you that. I don’t think they speak on a regular basis.”
Green stared at the baby and he knew that although Jake would do anything for the child, the mother was another thing. That’s why he’d never married her.
“So, I don’t think I’d put much stock in what Gerud says. He should butt out, and I’m going to tell him so when I see him today, Monica.”
“Like he’d listen to you.” Monica had a way of giving him little stinging mosquito bites when he wasn’t looking.
Green narrowed his eyes. His irritation was beginning to fester. This was way bigger than an infected mosquito bite. It was a tiny stab wound.
“Monica, I have a lot of things to get done today, which is why I’m in early. And I’m not quite sure I have any answers for you.”
“This is your granddaughter.”
Burt was taken aback with the comment. “Yes. She’s cute. I’m sorry, did you change the subject?”
“Don’t you want to be a part of her life?”
Right now Burt was wondering if he even wanted to be a part of his own life, let alone this baby’s or Monica’s or either of his sons’.
He stood. “I’m going to ask you to leave now, Monica, and I think you’d better reconsider before you come in here threatening me. I am a part of her life. I’m her grandfather, for chrissakes!” He straightened his tie and adjusted his belt. “But who my son sleeps with is his own damned business. He doesn’t ask me, and I wouldn’t counsel him anyway. I don’t consider myself much of a role model, either. So, like I said, I can’t help you. Now, if you will excuse me?”
His palm pointed to the door.
Fucking Gerud.
His son had not only tied up his business in knots and a pile of debt, now he was inserting himself in Jake’s personal life. He knew who he should contact about this. Monica’d be sorry she brought it up to tip his hand.
His phone rang. It was his business attorney.
“Burt, I need a word. Can we have lunch today?”
“Sure. I can be over at the club at eleven-thirty, how’s that?”
